After twenty years of teaching in Goizueta’s MBA programs, Professor Ray Hill is retiring at the end of the 2022-2023 academic year. A legendary finance professor, Ray taught every member of the full-time MBA program in his Core Economics course from 2003 through 2023, and his two electives, Project Finance and the Economic Environment of Business, were always “must-take” classes.
Well known for colorful stories from his past careers as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers and CFO of Mirant Corporation, as well as his ever-present cold calling, Ray has been an integral member of the Goizueta community. He’s a master teacher who has helped shape how students see the world and approach business problems. He’s also served as the faculty sponsor for the Goizueta Energy Club, International Club, and Christian Fellowship Club. He represents the very best of Goizueta.

Several members of the MBA Class of 2023 and GBS faculty are spearheading a fundraising campaign to celebrate Professor Hill’s retirement by establishing a scholarship in his honor. Upon reaching $20,000, the Raymond Hill Legacy Scholarship would be created to support Goizueta in recruiting the best MBA student talent possible in the domains of finance and economics and will focus on ambitious leaders who will be deeply involved in the Goizueta community, just like Ray was. Our ultimate goal is $100,000 to endow the scholarship in perpetuity.
We ask that you join us in making a gift to honor a Goizueta legend and ensure that Ray’s commitment to excellence will live on at the school in perpetuity! Should we not reach the minimum amount required for a named scholarship, donations will be directed to the Full-Time MBA Program Office to be used for student support.
By giving through this campaign, your gift will be designated for the Raymond Hill Legacy Scholarship within Gifts Pending – Goizueta Business School, a holding account until the endowment threshold is reached. Should the minimum funding required to reach endowment not be met, gifts will be redirected to the GBS Full-Time MBA Program Office Fund to be used for student support.
