Thank you for your interest in celebrating Dr. Noel Erskine through this Momentum crowdfunding page. This campaign has ended, but you can still support Erskine-Smith-Moseley Scholarship Endowment by making a gift here, today!
The Erskine-Smith-Moseley Scholarship Endowment honors three of Candler School of Theology’s first Black faculty and provides students in the school’s Black Church Studies Program with scholarships and stipends to support their theological education.
Honoree Noel Erskine, professor of theology and ethics, has taught at Candler since 1977. In celebration of Erskine’s retirement in 2023 and his 46 years of invaluable contributions to the seminary and the world, Candler invites everyone inspired by Dr. Erskine and his legacy—alumni, students, colleagues, church leaders, and the larger community—to make a gift to the scholarship in this season of transition for Dr. Erskine’s life and ministry.
Your gift will honor Dr. Erskine and pave the way for future Black leaders, theologians, and pastors through supporting their ministerial education and pastoral leadership development.
Nine students have received the Erskine-Smith-Moseley Scholarship since its inception.
The scholarship honors 3 pioneer Black faculty at Candler: Noel Erskine, Luther Smith, and Romney Moseley.
Dr. Erskine has been a visiting professor in 10 schools in 6 countries
