Thank you again for helping to support the Farmworker Family Health Program through our Momentum campaign.

The Farmworker Family Health Program is an important part of our educational program at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, and you helped continue the success of it.  Now entering its 26th year, this interprofessional program brings critical health services directly to farm workers and their families during the summer months, when the migrant population is at its peak in southwest Georgia. Each year, vitally needed clinical services are provided to over 600 individuals who would likely go without healthcare services.

Your support ensures that needed supplies and other program support will help us continue to offer this important service learning opportunity to our students and to serve a vulnerable population that enables us to have food on our tables.

If you haven’t seen it yet, please check out our “Learning Fields” presentation.

Thank you!

We’re Back from Moultrie

July 12, 2018

Thanks for a wonderful 25th anniversary year of the Farmworker Family Health Program. This program could not have happened without the gifts we get from supporters like you!

While in Moultrie, we collectively saw a total of 742 farmworkers and family members! With two new clinical groups this year, our students did a wonderful job. Please see the video below of an Emory student helping one of the Farmworker’s children.

Visit http://www.emorynursingnow.com/moultrie-experience-broadens-horizons-for-nursing-students/ for more information on how the experience in Moultrie impacts our Emory nursing students.

Thank you for helping the Farmworker Family Health Program be a success!

Thank You for Your Support of Our Program!

June 26, 2018

Thanks to you, we surpassed our goal of $5,000!

We are on the farm in Moultrie now and have been lucky with no rain yet. We hope the luck holds through next week. We have seen close to 300 farmworkers this week and have found some significant pathology issues in these young workers, from musculoskeletal injury and diabetic foot ulcers to tooth abscesses and possible melanoma in the mouth of one worker.

Our Emory students all report that the interprofessional aspect of the program is their favorite part. They really value the learning experience of working in the field.

Your support helps us do what we are doing. Thank you again!

We Have Surpassed Our Goal!

June 20, 2018

Thank you to the generosity and help with supporting the farmworkers. We have surpassed our original goal, and we are now looking to make a greater impact on purchasing more supplies and helping hundreds of farmworkers.

In our first 24 hours in Moultrie, we were able to see several children in the school, followed by our night camp to see the farmworkers. We have started to hand out boots and hygiene kits.

Your support makes a difference! The clock is ticking, our Momentum crowdfunding campaign ends this Friday! Please help us spread the word one last time by sharing our link with your family and friends. Easily share on Twitter and Facebookmomentum.emory.edu/FWFHP

We are so close to our goal!

June 12, 2018

Thank you for support – we are 99 percent to of our goal! There is still time to help us hit 100 percent and beyond, which will allow us purchase even more hygiene kits, socks, boots, and supplies that our Emory students can use and distribute on the farm in Moultrie. Please continue to spread the word, and let’s see how much more of an impact we can make.

We’re Off to a Great Start!

May 24, 2018

The School of Nursing’s Farmworker Family Health Program (FWFHP) has launched its first crowdfunding campaign, and we are excited to build our 25+ year program.

Thank you for the generous lead gifts from alumni, staff, faculty, and several family members, which total over $1,500! Our goal is to raise $5,000 to continue to buy health supplies for the farmworkers and equipment to help when we are in Moultrie this summer. Your gifts provide immediate help to purchase boots, hygiene kits, and supplies for the farmworker program.  We will be headed to Moultrie, GA, on June 16 to embark on what is sure to be a life-changing and transformative experience for our Emory students. Thanks to all who have helped make this possible!

Now, let’s get to work!  Please share our link with your family and friends to help support our campaign.
