A recap from our service trip to Jamaica

March 22, 2019

We're back from our service trip to Jamaica and are so thankful for your help in making this experience possible! We were able to take multiple wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, a pediatric stander, Sara Steady Stander, wound care supplies, and many other pieces of equipment to the FOR U clinic in Saint Elizabeth Parish. We were able to help with home modifications for each of the eight patients at the camp and cover most of the team’s room and board costs. Not only were we able to help our patients, but our patients made an impact on each and every one of us that we will remember throughout our careers. Below are just a few pictures from our time in Jamaica.

Thank you again for supporting our physical therapy service trip to Jamaica!

And We’re Off!

March 06, 2019

The time is finally here! We are in Jamaica. Our team of 22 is excited to be on this incredible service trip that your donations made possible. We look forward to using our skills to improve the quality of life for those that have suffered a neurological injury or disease, and to learn from the Jamaican culture and enhance our experience and careers as physical therapists. We will share photos and stories of our experience after returning on March 13th.

Thank you,

Carol Ann, Sarah, Colleen, and Tami

Thank you so much!

We did it!!

We are so thankful for all of the donations over the past five weeks. Your generosity has allowed us to exceed our $4,000 goal and will enable us have a successful trip to serve the people of St. Elizabeth Parish. We look forward to making lasting changes for the individuals we will be working with through physical therapy and providing much needed medical equipment. Stay tuned for updates on our trip and photos to follow.

Sincerely,

Carol Ann, Sarah, Colleen, and Tami

Time is running out!

January 15, 2019

Thanks for your help this far! Time is running out with less than one week left to see how far we can get beyond our goal amount to make a greater impact on our experience and those in need in Jamaica. We have begun our advanced course work in preparation for Jamaica. We are all looking forward to providing quality physical therapy to those in need and becoming better future clinicians in the process.

Please continue to reach out to family and friends and share our link to make the biggest possible impact on our service trip!

We can still do more!

January 09, 2019

Thank you for helping us beat our $4,000 goal! While we are excited that we have exceeded our goal, we know that with your help, we can do even more.

In November 2018, a few members of our team traveled to the ForU clinic to identify the specific equipment needs of the clinic and ways we can help. We are currently in the process of setting up potential equipment purchases. With continued support, we can purchase even more equipment to help more people in need of rehabilitation in rural Jamaica. Additionally, we can cover a larger percentage of costs for our team while on our service trip.

Please continue to help us so we can help even more people in the Jamaican underserved population by continuing to share our Momentum campaign link, momentum.emory.edu/PTJamaica, by email, and by Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

Thank you! Let’s see how far we can go by the time our Momentum campaign concludes at the end of the day on January 20.

Thanks for a great start!

December 10, 2018

We are off to a great start! The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT) has launched its first crowdfunding campaign to benefit the annual trip to St. Elizabeth Parish in Jamaica, and we are excited to continue to build our 8+ year program and relationship with the ForU clinic

Thank you for the generous gifts we have already received from alumni, staff, faculty, and family members. Our goal is to raise $4,000 to assist in purchasing medical equipment including braces, shower chairs, crutches, walkers, wheelchairs. Funds will also allow for safety and mobility improvements within the homes of patients with neurological injuries. Finally, we also hope to assist with the cost of transportation, room, and board for our team while they provide pro-bono therapy to individuals in Jamaica that could otherwise go without care.

For those who have contributed, thank you! Please continue to share our link, http://momentum.emory.edu/PTJamaica, with your family and friends by email to further support our campaign, and share easily by Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
