50th Anniversary of the Emory Physician Assistant Program
Join us in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Emory Physician Assistant Program! When the first class of PA students started at Emory in 1971, the PA profession was in its infancy. Now, 50 years later, Emory PA graduates are providing compassionate health care across our nation and beyond. Our program continues to advance and is proud of recent achievements, including:
- Increased our percentage of incoming URiM (underrepresented in medicine) students to twice the national average for PA programs
- Added a Social Determinants of Health curricular thread to further prepare our students to carry forward our program tradition of providing culturally sensitive care with increased respect, engagement, and understanding
- Placed first in the national iScan PA Student Ultrasound competition in 2018 and 2021 (Emory’s program is one of the first PA programs to implement an ultrasound curriculum)
- Added augmented reality technology in our anatomy course to better prepare students for cadaver dissection
