The Oxford College Alumni Board celebrated its 25th anniversary after the fall board meeting on October 15, 2021. They last celebrated the OCAB’s 10-year Anniversary in September 2006. The board was created by Mellie Davis 58Ox and former Assistant Director of Development David Rowe, former Director of Development in 1996. Tammy Camfield 89Ox 91C, Senior Director of Advancement and Alumni Engagement, has managed the board since 2004. Michael Silverio 99Ox 901C currently serves as the board’s thirteenth president.
The Alumni Board is composed of class agents spanning over fifty years. Each year the Oxford Class Gift chair is also asked to serve on the board, which brings in our youngest alumni. The purpose of the board is to advise and support the advancement and alumni engagement office and college, to help fundraise for the college, as well as communicate to other alumni what is happening on the campus today.
In the span of 25 years, the board has had over 275 members. We cannot begin to thank the alumni enough for their service, leadership, dedication, support, and time. Our success in communicating to alumni, attendance at reunions, fund raising for the college, and supporting our students is due to members and their dedication to the board.
The OCAB fund was established in 2007 and has awarded 13 scholarships and supported over 60 faculty, staff, and student projects. The board wishes to raise the level of importance by creating a $50,000 endowment to support student internships, if we reach $100,000 the endowment will support student scholarships. If by August 31, 2022, we have not reached our goal then the funds will be used to support the existing OCAB fund. Please support the fund today. All gifts received will go into the Gifts Pending account - Oxford College Endowed Scholarships.
Whether you give $25, $250, or $2500, every gift is a great gift. Our goal is to raise $25,000. We thought what better time to do this than for our 25th Anniversary Celebration.
