Our chapter of Operation Smile at Emory University is a non-profit organization that raises money for the surgeries required for children with cleft lip and cleft palate. Our mission is to create solutions that deliver safe surgery to people where it’s needed most, despite any financial implications.
We believe that every child has the right to surgical care for a condition that impacts their ability to speak, obtain employment, advancement in schooling, and most importantly, smile. By fundraising, we hope to help mitigate the cost for children in need of these surgical procedures. By making a gift to our campaign, you are making this care possible! Your support will allow us to donate vital materials and increase access to surgical care for children in need.
A gift as small as $5 can provide critical nutritional support to patients undergoing surgery.
Operation Smile was founded in 1982 when Dr. Bill Magee Jr., a plastic surgeon, and his wife, Kathy, a nurse and clinical social worker, traveled to the Philippines with a group of medical volunteers to repair children's cleft lips and cleft palates.
It could take as few as 45 minutes to provide life-changing surgery and a bright, beautiful new smile to a waiting child.
A gift of this amount could assist our organization to hold awareness programs and events to serve the underserved children.
