In Memory of Ian Crystal, MBA 2003

On August 20, 2021, our friend and classmate, Ian Crystal, died in a tragic accident in New York City. Ian was a proud member of the Class of 2003. During his two years at Goizueta, he was a lively presence on campus, always full of energy and eager to bring fun to the classroom, international trips, school events, and everyday interactions.

After graduation, Ian spent his early years working in the spirits industry, where he climbed the corporate ladder to become the top marketing leader for Absolut, one of the most iconic vodka brands in the world. After achieving great success with large enterprises, Ian left the comfort of corporate life to pursue an entrepreneurial venture, founding his own spirits company, Monkey Rum. Ian loved being an entrepreneur and encouraged others to set out on their own path, advising and investing in several early-stage businesses to help them grow.

Alongside his professional accomplishments, Ian was a truly great friend, loving son, brother, uncle to his many nieces and nephews, and a doting “dog dad” to his beloved Rhodesian Ridgeback, Beatrice.

To honor Ian’s memory, we’re raising funds to support Goizueta’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, something we know he’d appreciate. In addition, any funds you donate will go toward the permanent naming of a breakout room at the school in tribute to Ian.

Ian’s light was dimmed far too soon, but his vibrant spirit remains. We hope you’ll take a few moments to think about Ian and make a donation in his memory.

Previous fundraising efforts raised $28,500. We are looking to raise an additional $16,500 to achieve our goal of $45,000.
