Change the World One Friendship at a Time

For the past 31 years students at Emory University have been changing the world one friendship at a time by volunteering as part of Best Buddies. This incredible club provides students with and without disabilities the opportunity to be part of a global volunteer movement, while positively impacting our school and the Atlanta community.

Best Buddies® is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Best Buddies is a vibrant, international organization that has grown from one original chapter to over 1,500 middle school, high school, and college chapters worldwide. Best Buddies programs engage participants in each of the 50 United States, and in 50 countries around the world, positively impacting individuals with and without disabilities worldwide.

At Emory, we have witnessed the power of Best Buddies through the amazing one-to-one friendships in our chapter and seen a change in our community as a result of our volunteers. Every year our student volunteers and leaders participate in fun activities together, such as our Halloween Party, Winter Ball, and Talent Show where we continue to foster an inclusive environment. By engaging the Atlanta community in our mission, we have seen what a difference our chapter and volunteers can make.

We are committed to the mission and are asking for your support to help us impact more people this upcoming year! In support of our local chapter, we are asking our family, friends, and community supporters for a donation of $19.89 in celebration of our founding year of 1989. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will help our chapter continue to impact the lives of volunteers with and without IDD in our community.

Best Buddies envisions a world where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are successfully integrated into every community and our programs are no longer needed. We want to show the world that people with disabilities deserve respect and you can help us achieve our goals through your financial support. Thank you in advance for your support of Best Buddies at Emory!
