What is Emory Crew?
Emory Crew is a student-run club sport at Emory University. The team was founded in 1990 and has continued to grow since then. We practice 6 times weekly and travel to about 8 regattas during the year, located in cities throughout the South. As a result of the dedication each member has to this team and our shared passion for the sport, Emory Crew never strays from the path of constant improvement and success!
Emory Crew’s Impact
We are raising money to help us purchase and install additional boat racks in the Emory Crew rowing team’s boathouse, which will allow us to stack our boats vertically and store all of our equipment inside and away from poor weather conditions. After losing our previous boathouse at Stone Mountain 2 years ago as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were forced to move into a tent-like structure that now serves as a makeshift boathouse. Due to the lack of space, there is an increased chance of rowers injuring themselves and/or accidentally damaging the boats when carrying boats in and out of the boathouse.
Our initial goal, of $7,000, will be used to purchase 11 boat racks to be installed on our 3 extra posts. Each boat rack costs about $600. They will free up space within our boathouse, leading to a reduced risk of harm to rowers and boats that are already inside, in addition to providing protection for boats that are currently kept outside by moving them indoors.
With your support, we will be one step closer to having all the materials we need to be back up and rowing. We cannot thank you enough for making our efforts and service possible through your generosity.
