Emory Crew is a student-run club sport at Emory University. The team was founded in 1990 and has continued to grow since then. We practice 3-4 times weekly on the water and travel to about 8 regattas during the year, located in cities throughout the South. As a result of the dedication each member has to this team and our shared passion for the sport, Emory Crew never strays from the path of constant improvement and success!
The Row-A-Thon is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and especially as our spring racing season approaches, it is crucial for ensuring that we have the necessary equipment for both training and racing, in addition to compensating our incredible coaches. Our hope is to purchase a 4+ shell, as the majority of our boats have been with us for 10+ years and are showing signs of wear and tear. On February 24th, we will row 50 meters for every dollar donated to Emory Crew- last year, we raised about $7,000 and rowed >350,000 meters. This time, we are aiming to raise $10,000 and collectively row 500,000 meters!
Our $10k goal will be used to purchase a 4+ boat in addition to paying our team of experienced and involved coaches, who dedicate many hours every week to helping us improve. We currently own only three 4+ boats- and due to our growing team, this means our novice team is unable to practice in a dedicated 4+. The new shell even has the added benefit of versatility- it would be rowable as both a quad 4x (sculling) and a 4+ (sweeping)!
With your support, we will be another step closer to having all the materials we need to reach our full potential of our hard work and be competitive at races. We cannot thank you enough for making our efforts and service possible through your generosity.
