Thank you for your interest in the Betty Marie Stewart 52N Scholarship crowdfunding project. This campaign has ended, but if you are still interested in supporting this scholarship, please contact Angie Wright at angie.wright@emory.edu.
Betty Marie Stewart 52N has been a loyal and committed member of the Emory community for more than 50 years. Through her time, talent, and professional energy she has given tirelessly to serve Emory and the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing in numerous capacities. When Betty Marie Stewart was elected president of the Emory Alumni Board in 1978, she made history not only as the first alumna from the School of Nursing to take the seat—but the first woman. Stewart has spent more than four decades working to make Emory better, beginning with her ardent support of students. In the early 2000s, she spearheaded a scholarship fund honoring Elizabeth Mabry, a beloved School of Nursing professor. She made strengthening Emory a cornerstone of her life with a bequest to the School of Nursing. In 1982, she garnered the university’s most prestigious alumni award, the Emory Medal. Stewart was also honored with Jake’s Golden Heart in 2016, an alumni award given to those who show generosity, loyalty, and humility. Throughout her life, she has worked incessantly toward the betterment of not only the School of Nursing, but the entirety of Emory.
To commemorate Betty Marie’s lifelong service and legacy to Emory, we are raising funds to name the Betty Marie Stewart 52N Scholarship. With your support, not only will you be honoring Betty Marie, but also providing pre-licensure students with a scholarship that transform lives and contributes to the next generation of nurse leaders. Your support will open doors to access, intellectual growth, and life-changing opportunities for our students.
By giving through this campaign, your gift will be designated for the Betty Marie Stewart 52N Scholarship within Gifts Pending - NUR Endowed Scholarships, a holding account until the endowment threshold is achieved. Should the minimum funding required to endow the scholarship not be met by 12/31/23, then gifts will be redirected to an expendable scholarship fund for the same purpose.
