Emory Pre-PA is a student organization with a growing history at Emory. Founded on the principles of building the Physician-Assistant community within the greater Atlanta region, Emory Pre-PA society educates its members on the profession and offers an environment for all students (both from and outside of Emory) to grow and explore their interest in the field. All funds raised will help the club extend its influence to better fulfill this mission, where we will sponsor catered dinners to foster student-PA interconnectivity, purchase supplies for hands-on activities, and facilitate tours/equipment giveaways to cultivate student passion.
Our primary goal is to increase awareness of the PA profession at Emory, and we work to meet this objective by hosting monthly events that give students the opportunity to engage in simulations/activities based on the PA profession. For example, some of the events we have already hosted include our suturing clinic and our annual PA School Tour led by the Emory PA School admissions director. We are currently working to host lab simulations in the school of medicine to create a hands-on experience for our members, as these simulations are often omitted from the Emory undergraduate student curriculum. We are also trying to implement monthly catered dinners so that we can give our members the opportunity to eat with PAs, PA students, and PA professors. In doing so, our students can begin their professional development and start networking early to increase their exposure to the different phases of the PA process. We have also worked to foster network building by revitalizing our PA-Buddy System, where we have already connected 20 of our students with 20 students in the Emory PA Program!
Other ways we plan to increase awareness of the PA profession on campus include purchasing PA school application books for members that are starting the application process and helping students fund programs that can give them the opportunity to procure their clinical hours/experience. Some of these programs include getting certifications to work as a Medical Assistant and/or as a Certified Nursing Assistant! We also hope to host giveaways for items such as stethoscopes, pen lights, and club merchandise to increase interest/passion in the field.
As a club seeking to build the PA scene on campus and in the greater Atlanta region, we have worked hard to create a space that can help students explore their professional interests. Your support would directly contribute to this cause, as all funds donated would go to realizing our monthly PA dinners, item purchases/giveaways, and clinical experience programs. This gives our students a stronger foundation to explore what it means to be a Physician Assistant and whether or not it is the right profession for them. In supporting Emory Pre-PA society, you would be directly helping kickstart our students’ career goals, effectively investing in their future as healthcare professionals.
A gift to this project is a donation to this organization’s general fund. While the group has stated their needs for funding, their leadership may use funds raised for any purpose consistent with their registered student organization mission at Emory.
This can help us purchase suturing kits to host our annual suturing workshops.
This amount can help us continue our monthly catered dinners to give members more opportunities to network with professionals and students in a casual, productive capacity.
This could help us purchase/cover merchandise costs to provide higher quality clothes to our members and promote the club to the greater Emory and Atlanta community.
This can contribute to medical equipment giveaways for members to promote better future healthcare practice (pen lights, stethoscopes, reflex hammers, blood pressure cuffs, etc.).
