After nearly 18 years as dean of Candler School of Theology, Jan Love will step down from that role this summer. You can honor Dean Love and her tireless dedication and service to Candler through your gift to the Jan Love Scholarship Endowment.
Dean Love has made countless contributions to Candler and Emory University. Under her transformational leadership, Candler has expanded academically to offer three new degrees, five dual-degree programs, and more online and hybrid options, including the highly successful new hybrid Master of Divinity degree. She led the launch of The Candler Foundry, increased the diversity of Candler’s faculty and student body, continued the school’s tradition of world-class scholarship through hiring 33 out of the 44 current full-time faculty, and established 7 new endowments to support named professorships and the deanship. In addition to her work at Candler, she stepped in to serve as Emory’s interim provost during a critical period from December 2019 to July 2021, steering the university through the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Candler invites everyone inspired by Dean Love and her leadership to make a gift to the scholarship endowment bearing her name. One of Dean Love’s top priorities has been to increase support for scholarships, allowing more students to have access to a world-class, life-transforming Candler education.
