Volunteer Medical Interpretation Services

Volunteer Medical Interpretation Services (VMIS) is a student-run organization at Emory University dedicated to breaking down language barriers in healthcare. We recruit and train undergraduate and graduate students to become qualified medical interpreters, with a special focus on serving Atlanta’s Spanish-speaking community. Our interpreters volunteer at clinics across the greater-Atlanta area, ensuring patients can communicate clearly and receive the equitable care they deserve.

Your gift directly supports the training and certification of Emory students as medical interpreters, covering costs that would otherwise prevent volunteers from serving. Every dollar helps us provide transportation, community outreach, and interpreter training that makes healthcare accessible to Atlanta’s Spanish-speaking families. Together, we can ensure that every patient’s voice is heard and respected.

Our student organization is open to all students.

A gift to this project is a donation to this organization’s general fund. While the group has stated their needs for funding, their leadership may use funds raised for any purpose consistent with their registered student organization mission at Emory.
