Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Activists
We APIDAA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Activists) are a student-led group at Emory dedicated to empowering Asian voices across America by creating meaningful conversations around cultural, social, political, and academic topics. We have hosted panels such as Empowering Voices, which highlighted prominent Asian-American feminist voices in academia and activism in honor lives lost in the 2021 Atlanta spa shooting, to Asians in Art, which celebrated incredible Asian artists and offered APIDA students insight into how their culture and identity can shape creative spaces held voter education programs, equipped Atlanta residents with clear information on candidates and issues so they could be confident in casting their ballots in our voter education programs. Additionally, we are currently organizing seminars on political violence due to recent and historical sociopolitically-motivated shootings. Our mission goes beyond Asian-specific issues as we strive for inclusivity by representing the diverse intersections of AAPI identity. Our goal is to empower the next generation of scholars with the knowledge, awareness, and tools to drive meaningful change in all spheres impacting the Asian-American experience.
Your donation directly supports APIDAA’s mission to empower historically silenced Asian voices by fostering meaningful dialogue. Contributions help fund panels, workshops, and community events that address critical issues from combating race-based violence to amplifying cultural, political, and academic awareness. Thank you for investing in the next generation of leaders and changemakers who will advocate for Asian American causes.
Our student organization is open to all students.
A gift to this project is a donation to this organization’s general fund. While the group has stated their needs for funding, their leadership may use funds raised for any purpose consistent with their registered student organization mission at Emory.
