South Asian Women's Collective
The South Asian Women’s Collective at Emory is dedicated to celebrating and strengthening culture and community. Alongside our signature programs such as our annual Mehendi Night gala, we host a wide range of events that bring the Emory network together – from general body meetings like study dates and sip-and-paints to volunteering with the local nonprofits through our SAWC Day of Service. We encourage dialogue about prevalent issues in different communities through discussions open to all – including caste awareness and domestic violence prevention, even bringing in instructors to lead self-defense training. Having all these events throughout the year gives the Emory community the chance to feel pride while celebrating tradition and creating a welcoming and inclusive space for women and allies.
Next semester, we are hosting our annual Bazaar event, where we bring local South Asian immigrant and refugee-owned businesses to campus to provide the Emory community with opportunities to learn about the diverse range of South Asian tradition in addition to helping vendors grow their businesses by reaching new student and campus audiences. We make Bazaar free and accessible to everyone, so your donations and support can help us fund an even wider range of immigrant and women/refugee-owned businesses, scaling this event into a larger cultural initiative on campus. By donating, you are helping us create and expand an inclusive space that uplifts underrepresented voices and brings together a stronger community through Bazaar. Thank you for helping us make this event possible for both the Emory community and our local businesses/vendors.
Our student organization is open to all students.
A gift to this project is a donation to this organization’s general fund. While the group has stated their needs for funding, their leadership may use funds raised for any purpose consistent with their registered student organization mission at Emory.
