Emory's student-run newspaper transformed from a twice-weekly print publication to a "digital first" format supported by a redesigned print edition. Get to know Dustin Slade, the student editor leading the charge to reinvent The Wheel.
Dear friends of The Wheel,
We’re almost there – 12 days remain for The Wheel to reach its goal. We are now under $4,500 away from $15,000. Thanks to all who have made it possible for us reach this stage. Please help us in this final push by sharing this campaign and encouraging friends and family to donate. The gifts will help The Wheel reach new bounds in the digital age of journalism. In the coming weeks, we will launch our new recruitment strategy, new print edition, and new website. Thanks again for your support and for remembering your time with The Wheel.

We’re down to the final stretch – 16 days remain for The Wheel to reach its goal. We are now under $4,500 away from $15,000. Thanks to all who have made it possible for us reach this stage. Please help us in this final push by sharing this campaign and encouraging friends and family to donate. The gifts will help The Wheel reach new bounds in the digital age of journalism. We’re more than 25 percent of the way to our goal of $15,000! We have very exciting news to share as we continue getting closer to reaching our goal. First, we wanted to share some of the items that we hope to buy with our $15,000 goal. This long list of digital, audio, and video equipment needs includes (but is not limited to) iMacs, Canon EOS Rebel T5is, Canon D70s, GO All Pros, a Sigma 210101, Benro A2573FS6s, and much more! This will strengthen our online and video capabilities to propel us into 21st century storytelling.
Secondly, we just added a $19 “Loyal Reader” giving level so that you can honor the Wheel’s founding year of 1919 with a gift that will get us one step closer to our goal.
Next, everyone who donates to our campaign will receive a special commemorative edition of the first issue of the year delivered to their home as well as recognition in that issue and our website.
Finally, stay tuned for the unveiling of our new print edition sample pages.
Thank you for reading and believing in the Wheel, and thank you for your support!

Thanks to those who have supported us so far—the momentum you’ve created has inspired someone to make a $5,000 anonymous commitment—meaning we're now only $5,000 away from our goal! Please help us spread the word and encourage others to join you in supporting the Wheel as we work to meet this match for the last $5,000 of the campaign.
Now we’re turning back the clock to have 30 days to meet and exceed our goal of $15K. We need YOU – alums, students, parents and friends of the Wheel — to finish out the campaign and help offset our transition to a digital-first paper. Your gifts can help us buy equipment to increase our video output, report on more stories that matter to the student body, and focus on creating a visually appealing in-depth print issue. Thanks again for your support and for sharing with your friends—any amount helps!
Your gift allows us to purchase equipment and accessories for digital production!
Your donation buys a Zoom H1 Voice Recorder which will assist with capturing musical performances, conferences, interviews, or audio for video.
Your contribution supports the purchase of a Benro's Video Head and Tripod set, which will be used for video production.
Your gift purchases a GoPro camera, which will increase our video production capacity.
Your donation helps buy a Canon D70. This camera delivers continuous auto focus for video and live view still shooting.
Your gift provides funds for an iMac, which will be used to edit videos and photos and create web content.
Your gift supports the operations of The Emory Wheel as it transitions from biweekly print production to an online round-the-clock news resource.
