Fall is finally here, and the robust school tour schedule at the Carlos Museum is in full swing. Thanks to your contribution to the summer bus funding initiative, the number of schools who have applied and received a stipend for transportation has increased. As of mid-October, 11 schools (1,334 students) had already applied. Many other schools have contacted the museum and are working on scheduling a tour in the coming months.
These schools come from around the state and as far away as Houston County in Middle Georgia.
Fulton County school teacher Christopher Sandlin confirmed that bus funding made a difference for his school: “Being a Title I school we have a limited budget to use toward buses for field trips, and [this bus funding] was definitely a deciding factor in coming to tour the Carlos.”
Thank you again for supporting this important endeavor to give students the opportunity to take a field trip to the Carlos Museum.
Your generosity will help engage students’ natural sense of wonder as they visit the Carlos Museum during the upcoming school year. On behalf of schoolteachers, students, and the staff of the museum, we thank you for your support. We are excited to share that we exceeded our $5,000 goal and raised $5,334! We are now in a position to offer $10,000 worth of stipends for bus transportation and admission waivers. We could not have done it without you. Like a dedicated bus driver, your support will lead the way to a special museum experience for many children who may not have had the opportunity.

Thanks to everyone who has donated to our campaign and for helping to spread the word. Together, we successfully met the 1:1 match challenge and have been awarded $1,000 from generous donors Pam, Micheal, and Lauren Giles.
Since it’s almost back-to-school time, the teachers are beginning to submit requests for school field trips. The Carlos Museum education department staff is also busy preparing for the new school year—arranging docent training, scheduling docents for tours, and helping schools take advantage of our bus and admission stipends. Take a look at this photo of students in the gallery and know that you can be proud of supporting this important project. We are grateful for every gift we’ve received and for the donations made in honor of teachers. Thank you for your support and for spreading the word! https://momentum.emory.edu/get-on-the-bus
Thank you again for your generous support of our Get on the Bus crowdfunding campaign. We are thrilled to announce that generous donors Pam, Micheal, and Lauren Giles have collectively agreed to match 1:1 up to $1,000 dollars in gifts made to the campaign. There are seven days left in our campaign, and your continued support will help us reach our $5,000 goal to help cover bus transportation and offset museum admission fees for underserved school children. Please continue to support the campaign by spreading the word about our new matching opportunity!

“We can’t thank you enough for arranging the tour of your wonderful museum. Our students were amazed and thrilled with the museum’s collections and the stories that your well-informed docents told. It brought our lessons on ancient civilizations to life. We hope to come again with another group of curious third graders.” –Elementary school teacher
Your gift of $18 can help provide admission assistance for three students.
