Our 2022 Farm Worker Family Health Program Page is Open!

May 11, 2022

Thank you again for your support of the Farm Worker Family Health Program!

We are pleased to announce the launch of our 2022 Momentum campaign. Every year, for 29 years, the FWFHP has been dedicated to serving workers and their families with vitally needed clinical health services.

We hope that you will visit our new page and continue your support by making a gift and sharing our 2022 page, http://momentum.emory.edu/Moultrie2022, with your networks to help spread the word about the important work we are doing.

Thank you.

Thank you!

July 08, 2021

Because of you all, we were able to raise 83% of our $5,000 fundraising goal this year! We would like to thank you all for donating, sharing the fundraiser with your networks, and telling people what the Farm Worker Family Health Program is all about. This year was likely our most challenging year yet, given the planning and precautions needed to safely undertake the program amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges, we successfully provided care to 200 school children and 617 adult farmworkers!

All faculty, students, volunteers and patients stayed healthy and well.  In partnership with the Ellenton Clinic, we also administered the COVID vaccine to farmworkers who needed it – though most were already vaccinated.

We provided an inter-professional immersive learning experience for the following 109 students who participated:

1.        Pre-licensure Emory Capacity BSN students: 5

2.        Pre-licensure Emory MN students: 15

3.        Emory Graduate MSN students: 19

4.        GA State Physical Therapy students: 10

5.        Brenau Physical Therapy students: 15

6.        Central GA Tech Dental Hygiene students: 26

7.        UGA Pharmacy students: 8

8.        Brenau Psychology students: 3

9.        Volunteers from across the health professions: ~8

Thank you again for your continued support and we can’t wait to be back in Moultrie with the children and the farmworkers again next year!

Less than $1,000 still needed!

Our last group of students are heading home today. Overall, we were able to serve over 100 more farmworkers than anticipated, totaling over 600 farmworkers! In addition to elementary school children, we were also able to screen middle school children at the school, totaling over 200 children and adolescents screened.

First week complete and over 50% of our goal!

June 21, 2021

We have finished our first week here in Moultrie! Students have seen over 150 elementary school children and over 300 farmworkers. Dental students from Georgia Central Technical College were able to join us for this week, and they placed over 300 sealants on the children. Please continue to spread the word about how to donate to this amazing work our students are doing, and stay tuned for next week’s activities as we will have Brenau psychology students joining us as well!
